Introduction:

How do I install TIM on MTP

Background:

Client has an MTP box and may want to install TIM on MTP no forward the packets to APM.

This document provides instructions on install TIM on MTP

Environment:
MTP installed on redhat linux
Instructions:

Installing TIM requires installing two packages:

·         TIM third-party package – this contains the TIM prerequisites.

·         TIM tim-complete package – this contains the TIM software itself.

These packages are installed using the System Setup -> Install Software web page in the MTP UI.

This web page is similar to the MTP Administration->Upgrade web page.

You use the ‘Browse’ button to select the package and then click ‘Upload and Install’.

When installing TIM packages, you will need to scroll to the bottom of the license agreement, click the radio button to accept the license agreement, and then click ‘Next’.  Progress of the package installation is shown in the browser.

Additional Information:

Once TIM software is installed, you must configure which logical port TIM will monitor.  This is done on the Administration->Logical Ports page.  TIM can only monitor one logical port.  In addition, you must configure a hardware filter that is capturing full packets (i.e. no slicing) for traffic that should be sent to the TIM engine.  You can make use of the ‘HTTP – Full Packets’ filter that is automatically created by MTP but is disabled by default.  It defines full packets be captured for ports 80 and 443.  Adjust the filter settings as applicable for traffic that should be sent to TIM.

After changing the logical port and filter configuration, make sure to restart the nqcapd daemon for it to recognize the changes.
