Question:
Please can you provide some advice on how/if we can make changes to do with the century digit?
Currently we have the century spanning 1940-2039 in Synon.
If we move the century along 20 years so 1960-2059 this means anything with a year less than 60 gets a Century Indicator of 1 and anything above 60 gets a century indicator of 0 What is the recommended approach for this scenario with regards existing data ? So I assume if we change the synon century the above code would get regenerated to say ZZJYY IFLT 60 Going forward this means any date after 1960 gets a century indicator of 1 and anything before is a 0 (no problem there) but existing data – say a record with a date of 0411201 (1st December 1941) now gets treated as 2041
What is the recommended approach for making a change like this ?
Environment:
IBM Iseries AS400
Answer:
Any date greater than 1940 is held in the product as century "0".
2000 to 2039 is held as century"1".
Thus the 31st of December is the maximum date that can be stored.
The range of the date type fields is 1940 to 2039.
This range is fixed and not adjustable.

Also found references saying the the date field has been increased to 2199.
See chapter 3 of the 2E Manuel for information on this date
