In TPXMAIL, the first three options (read messages, read bulletins and read messages and bulletins) are not accessible. What needs to be done to get this problem resolved?

Question:

The  following options in TPXMAIL, are not accessible.
- Read messages
- Read bulletins
- Read messages and Bulletins

What needs to be done to resolve this condition?

 

Answer:

Verify that the Option TPXMAIL is running with the proper LMPKey. 

The message 'TPX9925 OPTION MAILBOX OF CA-TPX IS AUTHORIZED' should appear in the TPX LOG at startup of TPX.

If the above message is displayed in the LOG, then it is likely this could be a problem with the TPXMAIL VSAM database.

Review the TPX LOG for any messages concerning the MAIL database, for example:

TPXL0422 mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss MAIL file open error. Message/List storage/retrieval impossible, ACBERFLG=xx

In this case, try the following:

  1. Stop TPX

  2. Run TPX batch (BATCHINI)  'reset integrity' job against the MAIL database.

If this does not help, then use a backup of that database or, 

Repair the MAIL database using the following instructions:

Stop the TPX tasks which access this database.

Backup MAIL database. Use REPRO

Delete/define MAIL database

Restore the database from backup using IDcams /repro

Run TPX batch (BATCHINI)  'reset integrity' job against the MAIL database before starting TPX.

This should resolve the inaccessibility of the MAIL components.
