Symptoms

 U0000006 DEADLOCK – DB"  

 U0005322 There is a statement showing status 'R' (unsuccessfully restarted) in the ISTMT table. This has to be manually checked and solved. - DB  "


Cause

At the time of ILM partition changing, there are still have one statement active, which made a conflict there fore cause a DEADLOCK and ILM fail to change the partition 


Resolution

1. Ask customer for an exported of ISTMT table.

2. Look at the ISTMT_State and find the one have "R" status and copy the corresponding "ISTMT_Text" and "ISTMT_Idnr"

Eg:  ISTMT_Text :  ALTER PARTITION FUNCTION UC_PTF_REP() MERGE RANGE (231610000)

 ISTMT_Idnr1059302

3. Ask customer's DBA execute the below statement manually

ALTER PARTITION FUNCTION UC_PTF_REP() MERGE RANGE (231610000)

After it has been run SUCCESSFULLY please issue the following update command. DO NOT issue this command if anything has not gone right with the first statement!

UPDATE ISTMT SET ISTMT_STATE='C' WHERE ISTMT_Idnr=1059302. 

And then restart ILM. It should start normally.
