Messages in NetMaster log

Solution:

These messages appear in the NetMaster log:

    IEC130I PANELS DD STATEMENT MISSING
N28502 OPEN FAILED FOR VSAM ACB, CODE=X'80', DD=PANELS
    N00503 *** NETMASTER INITIALIZATION COMPLETE NMTM ***

One of the symptoms of this problem is that you can not sign onto the region, once the message occurs.

One of the most common reasons for these messages is that the OSCNTL file as pointed to by RUNSYSIN is bad (either empty or invalid).

The OSCNTL file contains all of the ASN.1 maps used by the product, as such if the ASN.1 MAPS can't be found then internal procedures may terminate.

So, while the symptom is a panel error it's really caused by the panel procedure not having maps available. Make sure that OSCNTL file has been properly loaded, or redefine the file and reload it.

You can find the necessary JCL to delete/define/reload the OSCNTL dataset in the REGION.JCL dataset.

Member S02SHALC - Delete/define OSCNTL dataset
Member S03LDVIP - Load OSCNTL dataset

Note:
ASN.1 (Abstract Syntax Notation One)
An OSI data description language, used by SNMP to define objects in MIBs.
ASN.1 defines a number of data types and these are used in specifying objects.
