Question:

IDMS r18.5 batch job for IDMSLOOK fails with syntax error: IDMSLOOK - Invalid Parameter Entered. What is causing this error?

Answer:

The IDMSLOOK Invalid Parameter Entered message occurs when the IDMSLOOK batch utility reads invalid syntax data. To circumvent the error, remove any invalid syntax data and rerun the IDMSLOOK batch utility.

One of the most common errors is to include a “semi-colon” at the end of the IDMSLOOK input line. For example, “DMCL ALL SORTED PAGES;”. The correct syntax is “DMCL ALL SORTED PAGES”. IDMSLOOK does not have an end of input line delimiter whereas OLQBATCH does.
