I just upgraded to UIM 8.4. In USM there is supposed to be a new tab for Monitoring Configuration Services (MCS) called monitoring.
I do not see this TAB. Why is it not displaying for me and how do I get it to show up?
The root cause was that SOC had been installed in the past.
USM will look for SOC and honor that before MCS and cause only the SOC table to be shown.
This is what we were seeing in the device Monitoring tab (but not in the USM group Monitoring tab).
USM checks for the existence and population (at least 1 entry) in the CFG_GROUP_TEMPLATE table.
If there is an entry then it takes SOC instead. The CFG_GROUP_TEMPLATE table had 4 entries in it.
Deleting those entries and restarting USM to clear the cached SOC flags resolved the issue.
delete from CFG_GROUP_TEMPLATE;
- If you have just installed UIM 8.4 as a fresh install and you are still no able to see the monitoring tab check the related tech doc:
TEC1153194- I just installed UIM 8.4 (fresh install) and I do not see the new Monitoring Configuration Services (MCS) - Monitoring tab. Why is it missing?
In UIM 7.x and prior there was a 'Monitoring' tab in USM which was related to a technology called SOC (Service Oriented Configuration) which involved configuration templates.
In 8.2 or so, this was removed/deprecated. Folks who upgraded from a prior version with SOC would have it still, but new installs did not have it.
Now in 8.4 the monitoring tab has returned, but is now related to MCS, which is essentially very similar to SOC but better.
So, if you started with a brand new 8.31 or if you didn't use SOC before upgrading, you won't have a monitoring tab but you will have one in 8.4.
