Introduction:

The new Agent Automatic Upgrade functionality introduced in R14 SP1 allows the agents to be upgraded from

the Scalability Servers automatically but not all agents that connect to the server get the Agent upgraded.

The policy "DSM > Software Delivery > Scalability Server > Agent Auto Upgrade: Agent auto upgrade mode"

has been set to True and applied to the Scalability Server.

The Agent packages have been Staged in the library of the Scalability Server

But, when the Agents report to the Scalability Server they are not upgraded.

Noticed that only some of them get the upgrade done.

Question:

I have activated the new Agent Automatic Upgrade functionality in R14SP1 but the agents are not upgraded when connect to the Scalability Server.

Why only some agents are upgraded ?

Environment:
CA Client Automation - R14 SP1
Answer:

Agent software automatic upgrade occurs only when Software Delivery Agent sends a list of DSM Packages that are installed on the system.

Software Delivery Agent sends these records only once in ten job checks through the Job Check: SWD delta mode configuration policy.

During the upgrade process, this value can be lowered so the information is send to the Scalability Server more often.

In order to change the value, edit the parameter DSM > Software Delivery > Agent > Job Check: SWD delta mode

and set a value lower than 10 that is the default.

This policy must be applied to all agents to be upgraded.

Note: It is recommended to set the value back to its default of 10 after the upgrade process.
