Question:

I have created the necessary parameters in the control GSO records to be able to dynamically switch the ACF2 databases but when I issue the SWITCH command it tells me that the switch key has not been setup. What should I do?

Answer:

The ability to switch the ACF2 databases dynamically is controlled by the SWTCHKEY value within the GSO OPTS record. As an enhancement to CA-ACF2 r12 the ability to use AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) was included.
The SWTCHKEY requires that the value be encrypted when it is stored.
With the AES enhancement in place, if you have ICSF active at the time that you store the SWTCHKEY, then ICSF must be active at the time that you issue the SWITCH command. If you do not have ICSF active when you issue the SWITCH command you will see the following messages.

F ACF2,SWITCH(ALT)
*73 ACF79344 ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO ISSUE SWITCH
                      COMMAND? ENTER Y OR N

ACF79355 DATABASE SWITCH FAILED.

You do not need to reinsert the SWTCHKEY into the database, you just need to start ICSF.
If you did not have ICSF active when the SWTCHKEY is inserted into the GSO OPTS record, then ICSF does not need to be active when you issue the SWITCH command.
