Introduction:

Search field in PAM allows you to search for devices whose name contains a certain string (e.g. search for "al" should return devices like hpdalbd.ca.com, altest.ca.com or newaldev.ca.com). However, searching for al in this example will only return altest.ca.com but not the other two

Question:

I am trying to search devices with just one or two characters, but it only shows those devices whose name starts with those characters. Why is this so ?

Answer:

If only a single letter or a certain string is specified, the search in PAM will assume names beginning with that string, not names containing it, so this is working as expected.

If you want the search to return all devices containing a certain substring specify in the search box * before and/or after the string you want to have matches for. For instance, if we want to look for all devices containing "al" in their name, we would be specifying *al* in the search box
