Question:

I am getting many trace entries in the ACFRPTRV report for VTAM like the following. How do I stop this?

The ACF2 report ACFRPTRV may show thousands of trace entries from VTAM. A sample of the loggings look like this:

08.056 02/25 04.19 STCINRDR VTAM VTAM VTAM STARTED TASK RULE TRC PALU-M56VTAM.DPSLEMS
   0   0   0   0   0 VT        AM              FFFF ACF9CAUD    -   -

PALU-MNIMB.M56VTAM.MNIMB.DPSLEMS
SAF RESOURCE CLASS APPCLU

RESOURCE NAME: M56VTAM.DPSLEMS

Answer:

A SECTRACE of the event shows this:

SMFID= FFFF         TOD= 14:13:30.58    TRACEID= SYSF       USERID=VTAM
 JOBNAME= VTAM       ASID= 0061          PGM= *SRB*          CURR RB=*SRB*
 SFR/RFR= 0/0:0      MODE= SRB           APF= AUTHORIZED     LOCKS= NONE
 SAFDEF= AUDITRSC INTERNAL MODE= GLOBAL

 RACROUTE REQUEST=AUDIT,CLASS='APPCLU',RELEASE=1.9,RESULT=SUCCESS,
          ACEE=,ENTITYX=('M56VTAM.DPSLEMS'),
          EVENT='APPCLU',EVQUAL=0001,MSGSP=0,WORKA=

This shows that VTAM is requesting an AUDIT record to be cut for a successful event. To set up ACF2 to stop the SMF records from being cut, a SAFDEF record may be inserted. Here is a sample SAFDEF record to insert for the sample we have been displaying:

ACF
SET CONTROL(GSO)
INSERT SAFDEF.VTAMAUD ID(VTAMAUD) JOBNAME(VTAM) MODE(IGNORE) FUNCRET(0) RETCODE(0) FUNCRSN(0) RACROUTE(REQUEST=AUDIT, CLASS=APPCLU,EVENT=APPCLU,RESULT=SUCCESS)
