Question:

I am getting failures GIM54701S/IKJ56893I/IGD17040I for SYSUT1 when running UNZIPJCL when installing a CA product using a PAX file, what is the cause of this?

GIM54701S ** ALLOCATION FAILED FOR SYSUT1 - IKJ56893I FILE SYSUT1 NOT ALLLOCATED+.
GIM54701S ** ALLOCATION FAILED FOR SYSUT1 - IGD17040I ERROR IN DADSM PROCESSING ON VOLUME UNKNWN FOR DATA SET.

Answer:

When modifying the UNZIPJCL the volume="*" specification is intended for use with SMS if you have a default SMS class defined.  If you do not intend to use SMS or if you do not have a default SMS class defined you have two options:

1) To use a specific volser, change volume="*" to volume="packname".
     Modify and issue the following CHANGE command:

     C ALL 'volume="*"' 'volume="packname"'

2) Define a default SMS class

Note the comments in the UNZIPJCL:

//*
//*    volume="*" will use default work packs set by your site. (SMS)
//*      if you require your files to be loaded to a specific pack
//*      do a global edit change to 'volume="*' to 'volume="packname'
//*      Please remember that you will have to delete these files
//*      manually if you do not use the system default which normally
//*      deletes these downloaded temporary files after a few days
//*      automatically.
