Steps to verify if CommandLine Sponsor is working on AutoSys machine.

Solution:

When debugging issues with the CommandLine Sponsor, here are the steps to verify that it is working on the AutoSys machine where it was installed:

On UNIX Machines:

  1. Go to a Unix window

  2. Go to the iTechnology directory (default directory is /opt/CA/SharedComponents/iTechnology

  3. Type ./AutoSysCommandWrapper.exe

  4. Type a valid UNIX login id that has access to the AutoSys binaries and press the Enter key

  5. Type the password for the UNIX login id that was entered in step 4 and press the Enter key

  6. Type an AutoSys command and press the Enter key

    Type ENDOFTRANSMISSION and press the Enter key

Here is an example:

# cd /opt/CA/SharedComponents/iTechnology
# ./AutoSysCommandWrapper.exe
autosys
autosys
autoflags -a
ENDOFTRANSMISSION
INC2 SOLAR ANY 11.0 SP2 83f91461 USPLEJMSUN1

On Windows Machines:

  1. Go to an AutoSys command prompt

  2. Go to the iTechnology directory (default directory is C:\Program Files\CA\SharedComponents\iTechnology

  3. Type AutoSysCommandWrapper.exe

  4. Type a valid Windows login if that has access to the AutoSys binaries and press the Enter key

  5. Type the password for the Windows login id that was entered in step 4 and press the Enter key

  6. Type an AutoSys command and press the Enter key

  7. Type ENDOFTRANSMISSION and press the Enter key

Here is an example:

If the above commands do not work, here is the information that you will need to gather to have when opening up an issue:

  1. What version of AutoSys is installed on this machine

  2. What platform did you install the CommandLine Sponsor on

  3. Has this ever worked

  4. Is EEM installed on this machine

  5. If platform is Unix, then tar up the iTechnology directory

  6. If platform is Windows, then zip up the iTechnology directory

Note: The most common AutoSys commands to attempt to test with the CommandLine Sponsor are autoflags, chk_auto_up, or autorep -J <AutoSys Job Name>.
