Summary:

This document will explain how to use Microsoft's SQL Server 2000 JDBC driver to connect to CleverPath Eureka Reporter Server rather than using the Sequelink software that ships with CleverPath Eureka Reporter. This will apply to versions 7.1 and above.

You can download the SQL Server 2000 JDBC driver for free from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4f8f2f01-1ed7-4c4d-8f7b-3d47969e66ae&DisplayLang=en

  1. After downloading the SQL Server JDBC driver use the setup.exe to install. This technical document will assume the default installation values are chosen.

  • After installation navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC\lib. You will see 3 JAR files. Move those three JAR files to the following Directory:

    C:\Eureka\Reporter\Server\admin\

    Modify your system CLASSPATH and point to both the above directory and the three JAR files individually:

    EX: CLASSPATH=

    C:\Eureka\Reporter\Server\admin\msbase.jar;
    C:\Eureka\Reporter\Server\admin\msutil.jar;
    C:\Eureka\Reporter\Server\admin\mssqlserver.jar;
    C:\Eureka\Reporter\Server\admin\

  • Navigate to C:\Eureka\Reporter\Server\admin and open administration.properties. Set the jdbcDriver and jdbcURL, replacing the values below for machinename, DBuser and DBpassword with the values for your installation and setup. An example is provided below

    jdbcDriver=com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    jdbcURL=jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://machinename:1433;user=DBuser;password=DBpassword

    For more information on your specific jdbcURL and jdbc.Driver syntax please see the HTML HELP installed with the Microsoft JDBC driver.

  • Navigate to C:\Eureka\Reporter\Server\admin and double click the rsmanager.bat. A command screen will display your CLASSPATH information and your Report Server Manager will open.

    NOTE: DO NOT USE THE SHORTCUT TO THE REPORT SERVER MANAGER THROUGH THE START MENU. You must use the rsmanager.bat directly and not the shortcut for the Report Server Manager through Start - Programs.

  • Login to the Report Server Manager.

  • Initialize your tables as per a standard install. Follow instructions as per the documentation to set up your web server aliases.
  • Congratulations, you are now using the Microsoft JDBC driver with Report Server.
