Introduction:

HiDRO CONSOLE CLASS and USER CLASS Messages.

Question:

How do you turn HiDRO CONSOLE CLASS and USER CLASS Messages on?

Environment:

We recommend you turn on all CONSOLE CLASS messages, which are directed to the console, and all USER CLASS messages, which are directed to the CMS log file.

Answer:

To analyze details of any job, whether the job was successful or not, it is important all messages are turned on and logged. Turning on all CONSOLE CLASS and USER CLASS Messages will help in your review of all backup jobs to verify for each task:

1.  The exact command that is being processed and the task number assigned to it

2.  The time the task was started

3.  The User ID/Unit that is being backed up and to which tape drive virtual address

4.  Any informational messages about the backup task (in addition to Errors and Warnings)

5.  If the task is restarted

6.  If the task is re-submitted to be re-tried at the end of the job

7.  When the task ends

We recommend you turn on all CONSOLE CLASS messages, which are directed to the console, and all USER CLASS messages, which are directed to the CMS log file.

To make the changes:

On the HiDRO panel -> PF5: Set Defaults & Tape Pools -> PF4 : Set Defaults -> PF8 : Scr Forward -> PF8 : Scr Forward -> Specify only an asterisk (*) next to CONSOLE CLASS and only an asterisk (*) next to USER CLASS -> PF2 : Submit Changes -> PF2 : Submit Changes

To verify the changes:

On the HiDRO panel -> PF5: Set Defaults & Tape Pools ->PF4 : Set Defaults -> PF8 : Scr Forward -> PF8 : Scr Forward ->
