CA Support May Request a CCI-PC Trace With Snap Packets for troubleshooting. Here are the instructions for how to take the trace.

How to take a CCI-PC Trace with Snap Packets

  • On the Web Viewer Server, run the CAICCI-PC Configuration Dialog
    If you do not find this on your START menu
    Double Left Click on CAIC3CFG.EXE in the C:\CA_APPSW directory

  • After the CAICCI-PC Properties dialog opens, select the Trace tab as above.

  • Under the heading "CCI Trace", select the check boxes,

    • Enabled

    • Snap Packets

  • Click browse to specify the trace file name and location, making certain that the folder has write access permissions.

    • Click "Apply

    • Then "OK" to close the "CAICCI-PC Properties" dialog

  • Recycle IIS from the command prompt

    • Net stop iisadmin /y

    • net start w3svc

  • While the trace is running, reproduce the problem

    VERY IMPORTANT - turn off the trace when your are done (trace will affect performance drastically)

  • Under the heading "CCI Trace", clear the check boxes,

    • Enabled

    • Snap Packets

  • Click "Apply

  • Then "OK" to close the "CAICCI-PC Properties" dialog

  • Recycle IIS from the command prompt (as above)

  • Retrieve the trace (which is located where you specified it to be saved.)

NOTE: In certain cases, CA Support may not need the Snap Packets. Just omit, checking the button for Snap Packets to take a regular CCI-PC trace.
