How to stop and unload PIM Endpoint on Windows

Introduction:

There are times when you will need to stop and unload PIM's drivers on Windows. This could be for replacing one of the driver files with a testfix or testing a performance related issue to narrow down if it is driver related. 

Environment:
Windows ServerPrivileged Identity Management Windows Endpoint
Instructions:

1. Open a command prompt as Administrator to shutdown PIM. 

Command:

secons -S 

 

2. In the command prompt run the following three commands to stop PIM's three drivers. 

net stop seosdrv                                                                

net stop drveng                                                                 

net stop cainstrm 

 

Our drivers are unloaded at this point. If you need to start them back up please follow the below steps.  

 

1. Open a command prompt as Administrator to start each driver.

Commands:

net start drveng 

net start seosdrv 

net start cainstrm 

 

2. In the command prompt run the following command to start PIM. 

seosd -start
