Introduction:

This article describes how you can reset the CA SAM 'admin' password in case it is lost.

Question:

I have lost the password for user 'admin' in CA SAM. How can I forcefully reset it?

Environment:

CA SAM all versions

Answer:

You can reset the admin password by running an 'UPDATE' statement against the CA SAM database. The following SQL statement sets the password of the user 'admin' back to 'admin':

CA SAM 3.x

UPDATE users SET password = '$P$B9kDuIA.wwJsFbRfgRTxS.lcdtMzO//' WHERE login = 'admin'

CA SAM 4.x

UPDATE users SET password = '$P$BzeUEPwt5MiNL8gacdxkc7.Ltr6Qzi1' WHERE login = 'admin'

Additional Information:

If you know the password for the Admin account, the best way to reset the password is through the CA SAM user interface:

1. Log into CA SAM

2. Click Account > Account > Change Password

3. Type in the new and old password
