Question:

How to reset the CA Business Intelligence (CABI) 4.x Administrator account password?

Environment:
CA Service Desk Manager 14.1 / 17.1
CA Business Intelligence (CABI) 4.1 SP3 / SP5
Answer:

1. Take a backup of the reports of CABI (.BIAR file)

2. Take a backup of the CABI server and CMS database

3. On the CABI server, locate the CMS process (CMS.EXE) via a process monitoring utility (i.e. Windows Task Manager or Microsoft Process Explorer).

                E.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\CommonReporting4\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64

4. From the Central Configuration Manager (CCM) on the CABI server, stop the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA)

 5. Right-click on the SIA and select ‘Properties’. Copy the entire command line

                E.g. -boot "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/_boe_Server_CABI.bootstrap" -port "6410" -dbinfo "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/_boe_ Server_CABI.dbinfo" -noauditor -loggingPath "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/logging/" -traceinipath "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/conf/BO_trace.ini" -name " Server_CABI " -piddir "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/serverpids/"

Remove on the string '-boot' and replace the string '_boe_Server_CABI.bootstrap' by 'CMS.exe' (marked in red above)

                E.g. "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/CMS.exe" -port "6410" -dbinfo "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/_boe_ Server_CABI.dbinfo" -noauditor -loggingPath "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/logging/" -traceinipath "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/conf/BO_trace.ini" -name " Server_CABI " -piddir "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/serverpids/"

6. Launch a Command Prompt with 'Run as Administrator'. Paste the CMS command from Step #3 above to the command-line. DO NOT press Enter. Append the ‘-serverconsole’ switch to the command and press Enter. For example:

"C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/CMS.exe" -port "6410" -dbinfo "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/_boe_ Server_CABI.dbinfo" -noauditor -loggingPath "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/logging/" -traceinipath "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/conf/BO_trace.ini" -name " Server_CABI " -piddir "C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/CommonReporting4/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/serverpids/" -serverconsole

7. The SIA will be launched in serverconsole mode. You will be prompted when the SIA is ready to accept commands.

8. Navigate to the following folder: <CABI INSTALL DIRECTORY>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dfo (i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\CommonReporting4\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dfo).  The dfo folder contains a subfolder with a randomly generated name starting with dfo_.

9. Copy the file named BusinessObjects_Administrator_dfo.xml from inside the dfo_ folder to the following folder: <CABI INSTALL DIRECTORY>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\packages (i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\CommonReporting4\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\packages).

10. Back to the command prompt, enter the following query: select si_id from ci_systemobjects where si_name='Administrator'. Record the SI_ID for each object.  One of the records should have the SI_ID set to 12.

11. Delete the objects by typing the following command for each object: delete <ID_NUMBER> (i.e. delete 12)

12. Verify that the objects have been deleted by re-entering the command from Step #8: select si_id from ci_systemobjects where si_name='Administrator'
No objects should be returned.

13. Enter the following query: select si_id from ci_systemobjects where si_name='BusinessObjects_Administrator_dfo.xml'. One object should be returned. Record the object's SI_ID number.

14. Delete the object by entering the following command: delete <SI_ID> (i.e. delete 377).

 15. Type quit to exit the SIA server console

16. Use the CCM to start the SIA service

"You can now logon using the CABI Administrator account without having to provide password (leave the "Password" field blank)."

17. Set the password for the Administrator account via the 'Users and Groups' section of the CMC.
