How to reinstall "Message Queue Broker" and register Message Queue broker with Service Catalog

Description:

This procedure describe the steps required to remove /reinstall "Message Queue Broker" and Register Message Queue broker with Service Catalog.

This procedure is recommend to be followed in the next circumstances:

  • When Service Catalog rules start launching more than once without any know reason.

  • When java.exe process related with "Message Queue Broker" start using more memory than normal.

Solution:

Please follow up the following steps:

  1. From Windows Services window stop the following services:

    CA Service View
    Message Queue 4.1 Broker

  2. Bring up a command prompt window running cmd.exe command

  3. On the command prompt window execute the following command to remove Message Queue 4.1 Broker service:

    "%IMQ_HOME%\mq\bin\imqsvcadmin.exe" remove

  4. Verify that "Message Queue 4.1 Broker" service has been removed from Windows Services window. You can press F5 on Service Window opened for Stop services to refresh the page.

  5. Reinstall Message Queue service running command:

    "%IMQ_HOME%\mq\bin\imqsvcadmin.exe" install -jrehome "%IMQ_JAVAHOME%" -vmargs "-Xms128m -Xmx768m -Dusm.home=%USM_HOME% -Djava.security.auth.login.config=%IMQ_VARHOME%\open.mq.jaas.config"

    You'll receive a message informing:
    Installation of service Message Queue 4.1 Broker successful.

  6. Verify that "Message Queue 4.1 Broker" service has been added at Windows Services window.
    You can press F5 on Service Window opened for Stop services to refresh the page.

  7. From Windows Services window Start the following services:

    Message Queue 4.1 Broker
    CA Service View

  8. Register Message Queue broker with Service Catalog running on command prompt window the command:

    %USM_HOME%\scripts\system\register_imq.bat

  9. At %USM_HOME%\logs\install\register_imq.log file verify that Message Queue broker is registered successfully verifying the existence of the following two lines at the end of the file:

    [DATE/TIME] Registered IMQ
    [DATE/TIME]Successful rc=0

  10. From Windows Services window Recycle the following service to force Message Queue Broker to reload Subscriptions

    CA Service View
