How to Prevent the VCAIM From Collecting Data on Specific vCenter Objects

We have some resources within the vCenter that are either not in production or otherwise do not require monitoring via the VCAIM. How can we prevent the VCAIM from monitoring these resources?

  1. The best way to go about this is to assign "No Access" permissions to the data stores in question within VC Admin Console for the account that the VC AIM is configured with.
  2. Then the VC AIM will not be able to provide any data for these resources.
  3. The method described uses datastores as an example, but can be implemented for any objects within vCenter that the VCAIM Provides data for (Data Cetners, ESX Hosts, VMs, etc).

Here are some examples where account "Guest" is denied access to "datastore1"
