Question:

How to obtain a backup copy of the CA Jobtrac Job Management database?

Answer:

The following job copies the CA Jobtrac database to a z/OS sequential file. This job does not require a shutdown of the CA Jobtrac  started task.

//BACKUP   EXEC PGM=DBUTLTY
//STEPLIB  DD   DISP=SHR,DSN=YOUR.DATACM.AD.CUSLIB
//         DD   DISP=SHR,DSN=YOUR.DATACOM.AD.CAILIB
//SYSPRINT DD   SYSOUT=*
//CXX      DD   DISP=SHR,DSN=YOUR.DATACOM.AD.CXX
//DBOUT    DD   DSN=YOUR.JOBTRAC.BACKUP,DISP=(NEW,CATLG),
//              UNIT=SYSDA,SPACE=(CYL,(xx,yy),RLSE)
//SYSIN    DD   *
 ACCESS STATUS=WRITE,DBID=161
 LOCK OPTION=MOVER,DBID=161,AREA=ACH
 BACKUP DBID=161,DDNAME=DBOUT,RECID=YES,SEQBUFS=128,SEQ=PHYSICAL, BLKSIZE=32760
 UNLOCK OPTION=MOVER,DBID=161,AREA=ACH
 /*

The following job copies the CA Jobtrac database to a z/OS sequential file. This type of backup requires a shutdown of the CA Jobtrac  started task and CA GSS.

//BACKUP   EXEC PGM=DBUTLTY
//STEPLIB  DD   DISP=SHR,DSN=YOUR.DATACM.AD.CUSLIB
//         DD   DISP=SHR,DSN=YOUR.DATACOM.AD.CAILIB
//SYSPRINT DD   SYSOUT=*
//CXX      DD   DISP=SHR,DSN=YOUR.DATACOM.AD.CXX
//DBOUT    DD   DSN=YOUR.JOBTRAC.BACKUP,DISP=(NEW,CATLG),
//              UNIT=SYSDA,SPACE=(CYL,(xx,yy),RLSE)
//SYSIN    DD   *
COMM OPTION=CLOSE,DBID=161
BACKUP DBID=161,DDNAME=DBOUT,SEQBUFS=128,SEQ=NATIVE,BLKSIZE=32760
COMM OPTION=CLOSE,DBID=161
 /*

The backup file must be terse before sending it to CA.
