Introduction:

When a database is to be static, where reports are not added nor expired, it still can be necessary to move all reports to the new media, when there is a media change. This report movement should only be done using SARPAC.

Instructions:

. Run SARINIT:

. . With FORM=9999 (or some other bogus Form value)

. . With STORGRPn=.../.../nnnnn/unit-p,unit-d/, where the Units are the esoteric for the new tape system

. . With TBACKUP=IDX

. Recycle SARSTC, for parm change implementation:

. . Start the SARSTC task, using "/S sarstc,OPT=STOPBU"

. . Immediately stop the SARSTC task, using "/P sarstc"

. Run SARPACs, with TAPESEQ=nnnnn-nnnnn, to move all active reports to new tapes.

. To expire the old tapes:

. . Start the SARSTC task, using "/S sarstc,OPT=STOPBU"

. . Issue "/F sarstc,NEW" to run the last backup

. . Stop the SARSTC, using "/P sarstc"

. To bring expired reports back to the database:

. . Review the SARBKLST output, of the SARSTC task, to see if any reports were expired.

. . For any reports that were expired, run SARTDR /TADD, to add the report back to the database:
