Question:

I need to backup my probe configuration so that if there is a problem I can redeploy them again quickly.
How do I do this?

Answer:

Most probe store all of their configuration in a .cfg file that is located in the probe directory.

Example:

<nimsoft>/probes/system/cdm/cdm.cfg

usually backing up all of the .cfg on a system will provide you with what you need.

 

NOTE: Support STRONGLY suggest backing up the entire <nimsoft> directory as how probes handle configuration can change over time.

 

One method to quickly backup your configurations so they can easily be re-deployed is to create a configuration only Archive Package:

Example:

 

Drag and drop the specific probe to the archive in infrastructure manager
Ensure 'configuration only' is ticked as below

Change the name to easily identify the config file and hit ok
This file can then be deployed over an existing probe to apply the saved config
