Introduction:

In an environment where there is a large amount of activity in the Message Queue, the ems.log file can grow to a large size on Enterprise Management or a Distribution Server. This could cause a storage issue or grow to a large enough size that it cannot be opened by any program. In the default configuration, there is nothing limiting the size of the log file. To limit the size of ems.log, follow the steps below.

Environment:
Enterprise Management or Distribution Server using the TIBCO Message Queue
Instructions:

In Windows:

1- Stop CA Privileged Identity Manager Message Queue via services.

2- Open Windows Explorer and browse to the Message Queue configuration folder. Below are the default paths.

Enterprise Management - C:\Program Files\CA\AccessControlServer\MessageQueue\tibco\cfgmgmt\ems\data

Distribution Server - C:\Program Files\CA\AccessControlDistServer\ACMQ\tibco\cfgmgmt\ems\data

3- Open tibemsd.conf in Notepad or another text editing program.

3- Search for logfile_max_size and enter the desired size, example 100MB

4- Rename the existing ems.log in ..\tibco\log to ems.log.backup

5- Start CA Privileged Identity Manager Message Queue via services.

In Linux:

1- Change directories to the Message Queue configuration folder. Below are the default paths.

Enterprise Management - /opt/CA/AccessControlServer/MessageQueue/tibco/cfgmgmt/ems/data

Distribution Server - /opt/CA/AccessControlDistServer/ACMQ/tibco/cfgmgmt/ems/data

2- Use vi or another text editor to open tibemsd.conf for writing.

3- Search for logfile_max_size and enter the desired size, example 100MB

4- Rename ems.log to ems.log.backup.

5- Restart the Message Queue service via /etc/init.d/ca-acrptmq restart

Additional Information:

Within tibemsd.conf, there is no token to limit the number of ems.log files on a server. If the number of files grows too large, go into the directory and delete the older log files to create more space.
