Introduction:

You Sometimes, there is a need to import a large number of user accounts from an old SpectroSERVER to a new one due to either corruption of data or simply building a new environment without a full SSdb import.

Question:

We have built a new environment with the latest version of Spectrum but we didn’t import the SSdb. How can we import just the user accounts from the old server?

Environment:

CA Spectrum 10.x

Answer:

You can use the Modelling gateway to export the user accounts from your old machine and reimport them into the new. You can do this as follows;

a. From the MLS, rather than one of the landscapes, and edit the .modelinggatewayresource.xml file in $SPECROOT/SS-Toolsso that the <ExportConfiguration> section has:

export_user_models = "true"

and all others = "false"

b. Then run (again in $SPECROOT/SS-Tools);

./modelinggateway -vnm <mls-server> -e user-account-data.xml

c. Restore the .modelinggatewayresource.xml to its original configuration.

d. Then on the new server, to import run:

./modelinggateway -vnm <new-mls-server> -i user-account-data.xml
