Introduction:

By default, all oracle datafiles in ehealth database have the auto extend turned on. That means datafile can grow dynamically as needed up to 32G. But we did see, some times, one, or few of the datafiles have the auto extend turned off. This is time when we need to turn the auto extend on.

How to enable Oracle datafile auto extend capability?

Answer:

Example Sql to turn the auto extend on

Sql below can be used to turn the auto extend on for a datafile named '/u05/app/oracle/oradata/R816/rbs01.dbf '. THis sql need to be run as $NH_USER.

ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '/u05/app/oracle/oradata/R816/rbs01.dbf '

AUTOEXTEND ON;
