Customers have requirement to enable daily log roll over to manage the log files in an effective manner. This article provides the instructions to enable daily log roll over for Arcot Admin application.

How to enable daily log rollover for Arcot Admin Application?

Environment:

This is applicable to all the versions of Arcot Admin application.

Answer: 

Follow these steps to enable daily log roll over for Arcot Admin application:

1. Open the file explorer and go to ARCOT_HOME/conf directory.

2. Open the adminserver.ini file in a text editor.

3. Look for section "ROLLING LOG FILE <roothandle> OUTPUT CONFIGURATION" and modify this section to match the following format:

log4j.appender.roothandle=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender

# By default the arcotadmin.log file will be created under ARCOT_HOME/logs.

# If a different file is needed, provide the absolute path of the log file.

# Make sure that the provided path exists.

log4j.appender.roothandle=org.apache.log4j.DailyRollingFileAppender

log4j.appender.roothandle.DatePattern='.'yyyy-MM-dd

log4j.appender.roothandle.Encoding=UTF-8

log4j.appender.roothandle.File=${arcot.home}/logs/arcotadmin.log

#log4j.appender.roothandle.MaxFileSize=10MB

#log4j.appender.roothandle.MaxBackupIndex=100

log4j.appender.roothandle.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout

log4j.appender.roothandle.layout.ConversionPattern=%d{yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss,SSS z} : [%t] : %-5p : %-5c{3} : %m%n

4. Restart the arcotadmin application so these changes take effect.
