Introduction:

Sometimes, when a device is not being discovered or being discovered incorrectly, CA Support will ask for a debug log of the discovery action. This article describes how to enable the AutoDiscover debug in CA Spectrum.

Background:
This debug information will be helpful to identify the issue related to the discovery of the devices and associated models.
Environment:
Spectrum 10.x
Instructions:
Here debug needs to be enabled at two locations. The following steps show how:

Enable the debug on Spectrum VNM model:
  1. Navigate to the VNM model in OneClick.
  2. Click on the Information tab in the Component Detail panel
  3. Find and select the AutoDiscovery Control -> Debug Options subview
  4. Set the Debug AutoDiscovery to On
  5. Run the discovery
Enable the debug under OneClick Administration:
  1. Navigate to the Start Console page for OneClick (http://<machinename>:port/, for example http://MyOneClickServer.com:8080/)
  2. Click on Administration
  3. Click on Web Server Debug (Runtime)
  4. Find the Autodiscovery selection and turn it on
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, make sure MAX is selected and click Apply.
The above debug outputs to the following files
  • ADiscDebug_<timestamp> file in the $SPECROOT/SS directory
  • The stdout.log file under Windows or catalina.out under Linux/Solaris in the $SPECROOT/tomcat/logs directory.
Additional Information:
The debug log for AutoDiscovery debug will not be written, until it is turned off after being enabled.
