Question:

How to dynamically update config file parameters without having to cycle CA Workload Automation Restart Options for z/OS Schedulers?

Answer:

Many config file parms can be dynamically change using the REFRESH command.   To see which parms are eligible to be dynamically updated, issue the following DBAS command:

comchar REFRESH CONFDD=*FIELDS

For any parms that shows as being eligible to be refreshed, you may edit the value for it in the config file and then issue the following DBAS command to make the change dynamically:

comchar REFRESH CONFDD=SYSIN

This example assumes SYSIN is the DD in your CA 11 started task that points to the config file.  If a different DD other than SYSIN is used, it will need to be referenced instead.   It is recommended to use this command while DBAS is in suspend mode.

You can verify the change has taken place by issuing DBAS command COMCHAR DIS CONF to display current config values in use.

If a parm does not show as being eligible for refresh, CA 11 will have to be cycled to pick up the change.
