The IDMS manuals are available in PDF and Book Manager Formats. The information on how to load and search IDMS Manuals in Book Manager Format has been documented on the IDMS Documentation CDROM or more recently in the IDMS Installation README member. Information on how to load and search IDMS Manuals in PDF format is also available on Support Online in the Documentation section as a PDF called 'All Guides with a Searchable Index in PDF Format'.
The procedure to download and search IDMS Manual in PDF format is as follows:
- Go to Support Online and in the Documentation section; select CA IDMS/DB as a product. Select 17.0 as the release and of course English as the language.
The resulting screen will a list of all the manuals - scroll to the end and select 'All Guides with a Searchable Index in PDF Format'.
- Download that B01483-2E zip file to your PC.
- Once it's downloaded to your PC; WINZIP will open up and scroll down and search for the readdoc.html (readme file). It contains information on the CA IDMS 17.0 documentation process.

The PDF bookshelf, available in the id170sp0.pdf file, lists all the guides included in the product documentation. The guide title provides a link to the guide PDF file. Click on the link to open the PDF file for the guide. Each guide's PDF file includes a bookmark (called Bookshelf) that returns you to the id170sp0.pdf.
5.0 Searching and Navigating PDF Files
The search facility requires that the PDF files and the IDH0INDX folder reside in the same directory. If you copy the files to your hard drive or to a local server be sure to maintain this structure. The Search command is invoked from the Edit menu."
Click on id170sp1.pdf and if you have Adobe Reader installed on your PC; it will populate it with all the IDMS manuals. The Adobe cross-book index enables you to search for occurrences of a text string across the entire documentation set. Be certain that you are using the full version of the Adobe Reader that supports Searches.
