Introduction:

Sometimes, it may be required to stop polling for a specific metric throughout the environment.

Background:

How to disable polling for a specific metric in Performance Management.

Environment:
CAPM 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 3.0, 3.1
Instructions:

1.    Download installCerts.exe utility from DA machine with below URL:

   http://<DA_Machine_IP>:8581/cert/install.htm

2.   Here is an example to remove ciscoLargestMemoryFree metric from Cisco Mib.

     Take a backup of below output.

http://<DA_IP>:8581/typecatalog/certifications/snmp

This will contain all the metric expressions.

4.   An extract from above output which include LargestMemoryFree is as follows:

 This section should be copied and modified accordingly. Please find the attachment with modified cert to turn off polling for LargestMemoryFree .

6.   Now you have to install it using the installCerts.exe utility which is downloaded earlier from the DA webpage.

7.   While installing select “Full Certification” rather than extension and select the modified cert while running installCerts.exe utility.

This should be reflecting immediately.
