Introduction:
During the BRTM troubleshooting, the response cookies may need to be disabled to prevent impact on some applications.

Question:
How to disable BRTM response cookies and what is the impact on metrics.

Environment:
APM 10.1 (HotFix). Planned for APM 10.4.
Browser Agent enabled

Answer:
For above APM 10.x Browser Agent, there is a new property to disable/enable Browser Agent cookie insertion in Agent Profile.
introscope.agent.brtm.cookieInsertionEnabled=false
After the cookie insertion is disabled the Browser Agent will not use response cookies between the browser client and the application server. For a list of those response cookies see wiki page: CA APM 10.1 > Implementing Agents > Browser Agent > Advanced Browser Agent Configuration

The impact of disabling the response cookies is :
1. BRTM metrics will show up in different path and without browser info (i.e. no CEM integration so as per BT unmatched BRTM metrics). So instead of:
Business Segment | <Business_Service>| <Business_Transaction> via Chrome | <Business_Transaction_Component> | Browser | <Browser_Metrics>
It will be:
Business Segment | <Host>/<Port> | <URL> | <Browser_Metrics>
2. BRTM will not be involved in Transaction Tracing and will not send traces.
