Introduction: 

This write up details ways to debug the CA Desktop OTP client and the associated Plugin.

Question: 

How to debug CA OTP Desktop client?

Answer: 

 

Client debugging

  1. Invoke the OTP Desktop client with aotplog=console (for log messages to console) as shown below. Note it is required that we append “file:///” like such - file:///C:/CA/arcot/OTPDesktop/html/index.html?aotplog=console 
  2. As you press the buttons such as “Add” you will see the debug log in the Javascript console as shown below.

Plugin debugging

  1. set authminderlog=C:\debug.txt  (to capture the logs in a file called debug.txt.
  2. Launch the browser say Firefox by executing this on the command prompt "c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe".
  3. On the browser that is launched please navigate to the Desktop OTP client and start testing on the flow. The debug messages will be in file debug.txt in the specified location in #1 above.
