Question:

How to proceed about message IMGR253E SEGMENT FOUND WITH INVALID INVENTORY?

Answer:

Records in the endevor element catalog (ELMCATL dataset) have a prefix containing the element names (long and short) and a variable number of segments which tell about each and every inventory location where the element resides.

Message IMGR253E means that there is a mismatch between catalog and MCF as there is a 'catalog segment' stating that an element resides at some location but that element is not found at that location as per the MCF file.

This can happen for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to:

  • - NOT backing up/restoring catalog and all related MCF's together
  • - Removing non-empty environments from C1DEFLTS
  • - Changing the environment and/or stage names in C1DEFLTS

The first way to solve this error is to run BC1JCSYN job. It ensures that each and every catalog segment has a corresponding element record in the MCF and vice versa.

If BC1JCSYN does not fix the problem (which could maybe happen in extreme situations like tampering with environments in the C1DEFLTS table) next step is to rebuild the catalog with job BC1JXCNV
