Description:

The Implementation Guide suggests that there's a way to allow Harvest and SCM to coexist on the same machine. DOS batch script files can be created to perform environment changes to switch between execution of Harvest or SCM that coexist on the same machine. What will the batch script files look like to execute Workbench and Administrator for each version of Harvest?

Solution:

For each of the blocks of code below, create a separate text file:

To run Harvest 7.x Workbench, create a text file named "RunH71Workbench.bat" and paste in the following code:

rem --- RunH71Workbench.bat ---
cd %HARVESTHOME%
set PATH=%HARVESTHOME%;%PATH%
ADvantage.exe -Product="AllFusion Harvest CM Workbench"
rem --- end of script ---

To run Harvest 7.x Administrator, create a text file named "RunH71Administrator.bat" and paste in the following code:

rem --- RunH71Administrator.bat ---
cd %HARVESTHOME%
set PATH=%HARVESTHOME%;%PATH%
ADvantage.exe -Product="AllFusion Harvest CM Administrator"
rem --- end of script ---

To run SCM 12.x Workbench, create a text file named "RunSCM12Workbench.bat" and paste in the following code:

rem --- RunSCM12Workbench.bat ---
cd %CA_SCM_HOME%
set PATH=%CA_SCM_HOME%;%PATH%
set HARVESTHOME=%CA_SCM_HOME%
workbench.exe
rem --- end of script ---

To run SCM 12.x Administrator, create a text file named "RunSCM12Administrator.bat" and paste in the following code:

rem --- RunSCM12Administrator.bat ---
cd %CA_SCM_HOME%
set PATH=%CA_SCM_HOME%;%PATH%
set HARVESTHOME=%CA_SCM_HOME%
ADvantage.exe -Product="SCM Administrator"
rem --- end of script ---

Save these files to your desktop.

*** NOTE ***

If Harvest or Software Change Manager is stored to any disk drive other than the C: drive, you will need to add a line at the beginning of each script file to change to the drive where Harvest or Software Change Manager is installed. For example, suppose Harvest is installed on the D: drive on the computer. The beginning of the RunH71Workbench.bat file would look like this:

rem --- RunH71Workbench.bat ---
D:
cd %HARVESTHOME%
set ...

A similar change would need to be made to RunH71Administrator.bat.
