The Output Log Message step lets you write a text message to the log. This step is useful for tracking and logging test cases as they execute.
You will need to enter your log message in the editor and the log message will appear when the step is executed in the ITR - Interactive Test Run. The message is logged during a test run.
How to save these messages to a file when running the test case on the Simulator - staging a test?
We can add the Filter Save Property Value to File to the Output Log Message step.
This filter lets us save the value of an existing property to a file in the file system.

To add it to the Output Log Message step, expand the Filter field of the test step.
Select the plus icon and select Utilities, Save Property Value to File.
Save Property Value to File Filter
After the filter is added we will need to add the property we want to save the value and the location the file will be created.

The 'Filter in' in this case will be the response of the test step, lisa.Test Step Name.rsp  - lisa.Output Log Message.rsp.
The 'Location' is where the file will be stored. Properties can be used in this field, but we can't forget to set these properties in the config file or during the test execution.
If we would like to add information to an existing file, select the 'Append Mode' check box.
When staging a test, we will need to enter an existing Location in the Simulator server, where the test will be executed.

With this filter, the content of the Output Log Message step will be saved to the file specified under location.
We should be able to stage this test and see the file being created during the test execution.
