Question:
What technical knowledge is needed to develop a custom Jaspersoft Report?
Environment:
CA PPM 15.1 SaaS and On Premise

Japsersoft Reports Server 6.2
Answer:
Here are some specific sections of the CA PPM 15.1 manual that you should review:

Custom Report Development:

https://docops.ca.com/ca-ppm/15-1/en/advanced-reporting-with-jaspersoft/ad-hoc-views-reports-and-custom-report-development

Create and Publish Jaspersoft Studio Reports:

https://docops.ca.com/ca-ppm/15-1/en/advanced-reporting-with-jaspersoft/create-and-publish-jaspersoft-studio-reports

To reiterate what we discussed in our chat session, I suggested the following course of action for you:

(1) Download and install and configure Jaspersoft Studio 6.2 and the JDBC driver. Studio is a pretty straightforward install. You can find a README file in the installation media on CA Support Online (http://support.ca.com). Review the following doc for installing and configuring the JDBC connector:

https://docops.ca.com/ca-ppm/15-1/en/advanced-reporting-with-jaspersoft/jaspersoft-studio-professional-ca-jdbc-adapter

(2) Import the OOTB report into Studio that has the look and feel you want, and then ask the CA PPM User Community for assistance with modifying its underlying query to get the data output that you need. You can engage CA Support for specific technical questions or assistance with resolving unexpected problems. You can also engage CA Services or one of our partner organizations for in-depth hands-on assistance with custom report development.
