Description:

Many of our customers want to create a started task from their Datacom MUF startup job (AD14STRT for Datacom/AD or MUFSTRTU for Datacom/DB), as this job is a long-running job. This knowledge document describes the changes required to modify or transition these submitted jobs to a PROC that can be used to run the Datacom MUF as a started task.

Solution:

With the CA Datacom/AD and CA Datacom/DB installation, we provide a startup job to bring up the MUF as a batch job. Because many of our customers do not allow long-running jobs, the preferred method of bringing up the MUF is via a started task.

For Datacom/AD, the AD14STRT member can be made into a standard System PROCLIB member by removing the following JCL statement and placing the member into your System PROCLIB. The member name that you use when saving the modified JCL into your PROCLIB can be whatever you desire, it does not have to be AD14STRT.

 //JCL JCLLIB ORDER=(CAI.NEWCHLQ.CUSPROC)

Similarly, for Datacom/DB, the MUFSTRTU member can be made into a standard System PROCLIB member by removing the following JCL statement and placing the member into your System PROCLIB. The member name that you use when saving the modified JCL into your PROCLIB can be whatever you desire, it does not have to be MUFSTRTU.

 	//L JCLLIB ORDER=CAI.CHLQ.CUSPROC

By making these changes, the Datacom/AD or Datacom/DB MUF can be run as a started task.
