How to change the IP address of ehealth server

Introduction:
eHealth and its configuration doesn't depend on the IP address of the system where it is running.  However, failure to resolve the IP address of the system correctly may affect the operational running of the application.
 
Question:
What effect does changing the IP address on the eHealth server have on the eHealth application and how can these effects be mitigated?
Environment:
eHealth 6.2.x, 6.3.x
Answer:
The IP address can be changed without causing a problem. Any problems that may result, will originate from the eHealth system not being able to resolve to the new IP address. So ensure the following steps are successful:
  1. Stop eHealth (nhServer stop)
  2. Stop the Oracle DB (nhStopDb)
  3. Change the IP address of the server
  4. Make sure any name resolution still works (DNS, nslookup, hosts files).
  5. Reboot the server
Also, if the system is being polled (either by itself or another Network Management System such as CA Spectrum), then it will need to be rediscovered.
 
Additional Information:
On Windows eHealth systems, ensure that the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file is updated.
