Question:

How to Bypass Generic Logins?

Environment:

Windows 2008/2012 R2 Server

Answer:

If you are using Generic IDs to access Unicenter Output Management Web Viewer, there is a way that you can bypass the generic login request and go directly to the main menu. This process eliminates the need for your end users to login to the system multiple times.

Additional Information:

To bypass the generic login screen, create a direct URL link as follows:

http://<server>/DVWebScripts/CADocVw.dll?MainFrame&user_id=<generic>

Use the link above as an example, and edit it appropriately for your site. Replace the "<server>" statement with the valid server name of the workstation that hosts the Internet Information Services (IIS) and Unicenter Output Management Web Viewer. Replace the "<generic>" statement with a valid generic user id that has been defined to the Unicenter Output Management Web Viewer system through the Administration Tool. It is important to note that the Generic ID must have been defined with no password. In the sample below, the end user will sign directly into a sever named "dvweb" and log in with generic user id "userid".

http://dvweb/DVWebScripts/CADocVw.dll?MainFrame&user_id=userid

Once the end user has reached the report list within Unicenter Output Management Web Viewer, they will be prompted for their OS/390- or z/OS-based password so that they can access their mainframe report repository.
