The following message storm can be displayed in the conlog:
"%CATD_I_066, Authentication failure: Unauthorized message received"
This is an informational message only.
CATRAPD.EXE handles all traps which are not filtered out (filtering through definitions in the file ..\NSM\CAIUSER\CATRAPD.CFG).
CATRAPD is started when Unicenter is started.
This is controlled by:
CAUGUI SETTINGS > Client Preferences > Component Activation Flags > Format traps using provided tables? (CA_TRAPD_XLATE)
If set to YES, the trap daemon will be started when Unicenter is started, or it can be manually started through the CATRAPD command.
The translation of traps is controlled by:
CAUGUI SETTINGS > Client Preferences > Event Management > Automatic formatting of SNMP traps? (CA_TRAPD_XLATE)
If set to YES, the most important information from a trap will be formatted in a user-friendly format. Predefined formatting is provided for thousands of traps from many companies.
CATRAPD translates the raw SNMP trap into the CATD_I_066 message that will appear in the console log.
You can either switch off "Format traps using provided tables?" (CA_TRAPD_XLATE), or use a third party SNMP trap utility such as 'snmputil' to find out the contents of the SNMP traps received.
The messages can be removed by creating a message record/action to DISCARD all the CATD_I_066 problem messages.
If the trap is known, it can be filtered (excluded) in the CATRAPD.CFG file.
Alternatively, you can filter out the cause of the traps and try to avoid it sending of the traps at the source.
