Question:
How does Service Desk know which browser am I using?
Answer:
When you login to Service Desk, the htmpl forms, including the login.htmpl page that is used to accept your login credentials, will leverage a backend javascript file called "browser.js". This file contains the routines necessary for Service Desk Manager to tell what browser you are running.
If the browser that you are running the Service Desk web interface fails the recognition testing methods in browser.js, you will receive the PDA web interface.
Additional Information:
Please see:
faq380589:
When connecting to the web interface with Internet Explorer the PDA interface is shown instead of the correct login page.
Disclaimer: Like any components of Service Desk, please take all necessary precautions when considering a customisation. We do not advise manipulating the browser.js file to bypass the PDA interface for a specific browser configuration. Service Desk may behave unpredictably if you are using an unsupported or uncertified web browser.
