Introduction:
When a Data Collector is no longer needed, it is best to remove it so as not to allow for unwanted error messages concerning system state and to properly maintain an efficient environment. This article describes how to do this.
Question:

How do I delete a Data Collector (DC) from the CA Performance Center data collector list?

Environment:
CAPM 3.x and later
Answer:

 1. Using a REST client, change the HTTP method to GET and put the following URL in the URL bar:

http://<DA_HOST_IP>:8581/rest/dcms/

Then click the run button (>>)

   2. Note the number between the ID tags for the data collector you want to delete.  Ex. <ID>732</ID>

   3. Now change the HTTP method to DELETE and put the following URL in the URL bar using the ID identified in step 2:

http://<DA_HOST_IP>:8581/rest/ipdomainmember/732

   4. Add the following text under the "Body" tab

<DeleteList>

<ID>732</ID>

</DeleteList>

   5. Click the run button (>>)

   6. Check the data collector list in CA Performance Center.  The Data Collector should disappear.

Additional Information:
  • The data collector must not have any devices on it to perform the above procedure.  So existing devices will need to be either deleted or moved to another collector using the "rebalance" functionality
  • <DA_HOST_IP> in the above URL represents the Data Aggregator (either hostname or IP address).
  • The content type must be set to application/xml; charset=UTF-8 with the REST client before the above procedure can be performed
