Question:

How do I generate a report that included information from a remote DB2 Catalog?

Environment:

Local DB2 subsystem D10A has DDF configured to connect to remote DB2 subsystem D10B.

The D10A entry in the SETUPxx member of the CDBAPARM library includes an entry for the remote D10B subsystem.

Answer:

Enter the remote location name in the LOCATION field on the RC/QUERY main menu and enter the local SSID in the DB2 SSID field as shown below:

In the screen above D10A is the local subsystem and the LOCATION is set to the remote location D10BPTIB. If you're unsure of location names, browse the SYSIBM.LOCATIONS table and find the row corresponding to the remote subsystem. Use the LOCATION column from SYSIBM.LOCATIONS in the LOCATION field on the RC/Query Main Menu.

The following must be done for this to work:

1. DDF must be set up between the local & remote DB2 subsystems.

2. The CDBAPARM member SETUPxx must be customized with the appropriate LOCATION & LOCSSID parameters within the corresponding local subsystem's parameters. In this example the SETUPxx member would look like the following:
                 ...
           SSID(D10A)
           LOCATION(LOCAL)
           LOCSSID(D10B)
           LOCATION(D10BPTIB)
                 ...
                 ....

3. Once the remote location has been specified, navigate to RC/Query, or any other product, and interact with the product to produce the report you need.  The information will be derived from the remote location identified by the D10BPTIB location.
