Question:

We are using several scripts to automate several tasks and would like to also include software policy evaluation. Is there a way to evaluate a software policy from the command line?

Environment:
All versions of CA Client Automation
Answer:

Software policies can be evaluated using the following command:
cadsmcmd templategroup action=evaluate name=<Name of the Computer Group> swtemplate=<Name of the software policy>

Ex: cadsmcmd templategroup action=evaluate name=ABC swtemplate=ABC-Pol

where
ABC-Pol is the name of the software policy
ABC is the name of the computer group to which the software policy is linked

Note: Software policies can also be evaluated from remote computers on which the DSM Explorer is installed.
