Description:

This document provides the necessary steps to configure / enable verbose / diagnostic logging of information on the RTserver.

Solution:

For RTserver on Windows hosts:

  1. Edit %RTHOME%\standard\rtserver.cm in your favourite text editor (notepad is fine).

  2. Add below entry towards the end of the file:

    setopt verbose true

  3. Save and close the file.

  4. Restart the Windows host to make these changes effective.

For RTserver on UNIX hosts:

  1. Edit $RTHOME/standard/rtserver.cm in your favourite text editor (vi is fine).

  2. Add below entry towards the end of the file:

    setopt verbose true

  3. Save and close the file.

  4. Stop all Harvest programs (ex: Harvest Agent, Clients, HSDK/JHSDK programs, Command line programs, Broker/HServer) using the RTserver.

  5. Stop RTserver by sending a UNIX kill -2 signal to the RTserver Process ID (ex: At UNIX prompt execute, kill -2 <PID of RTServer> ).

  6. Restart Broker (usually this starts the RTserver automatically).

Note:

Enabling RTserver verbose option produces lot of information to the *.dbg files in %TEMP%\rtworks or %WINROOT%\temp or $TMP/rtworks directories.
