Issue:

When trying to attach Adobe Acrobat .pdf documents, the Repository will store them correctly. However, when trying to download them again, you can get the error that Acrobat Reader will not handle the file.

Resolution:

The above problem is known to occur when using a Tomcat web repository where Tomcat does not know about the .pdf extension; which by default it does not.

To resolve the problem:

  1. Open the file web.xml

    On Unix/Linux, in -
      $NX_ROOT/bopcfg/www/CATALINA_BASE/webapps/CAisd/WEB-INF/
    On Windows, in -
      %NX_ROOT%\bopcfg\www\CATALINA_BASE\webapps\CAisd\WEB-INF\
  2. Locate the pair of lines that configure the parameter 'save_as_dialog_ext':
      <param-name>save_as_dialog_ext</param-name> <param-value>eml,doc,zip,gz,tar,xls,rtf,ppt,pps,msg</param-value>
  3. Add the 'pdf' extension to the list:
      <param-name>save_as_dialog_ext</param-name> <param-value>eml,doc,zip,gz,tar,xls,rtf,ppt,pps,msg, pdf </param-value>
  4. Save the web.xml file in the location provided in Step # 1 depending on the environment.

  5. To bring the change into effect, restart the service.
