Introduction:

We have a requirement to log CEM scheduled reports events in the EM log or some other log periodically for analysis and reporting purpose. For example, a typical CEM email report consists of following message.

Subject: BMS Business Transaction Time Distribution Graph

This report details the transaction time distribution for all monitored BMS transactions.  The time period is the previous calendar day.

It is likely that an application log entry is created when these reports are run and we are looking for more details in the log, for instance - What application, report name, was run and when? We would like to try and customize the log or report name to contain this information so that automated tracking can be more effective.

Question:

Is there a way to get more details about the CEM report event?

Environment:
ANY Supported OS
Answer:

It's currently not available Out-Of-The-Box. JVM logging for MOM, in its IntroscopeEnterpriseManager.log, only logs a Jobname which is used as an internal ID, and it does not log any other information about the report.

An enhancement was raised to CA APM Product Management team to include more information about the report in its report event and the log.

As a work around, a system mail log for example for *nix environment (where MOM is running, ie. /var/log/maillog) can be parsed as MOM uses the system mail to send out the report events. System mail log doesn't log sendmail, so it has to be configured to enable it - check with the System Administrator or reference online on how to do that.
