Description:

An MVS modify command can be used in a batch job to retrieve product maintenance for products that are installed with CA Chorus Software Manager(CSM formerly MSM).

Solution:

A site can setup a batch job to be run by your scheduling product already in house and create and schedule with your production control folks a batch job that would execute an MVS modify command:

 	F jobname,APPL=UPDTCAT,USERID=user_id,PRODUCT=product_name
 	[,RELEASE=release_number][,TYPE=FULL|PTFS][,MODE=EXECUTE|CHECK|ATOMIC]

You can use something like the following job:

//****************************************************
//*
//*
//STEP01   EXEC PGM=IKJEFT01
//SYSPROC   DD  DSN=ISP.SISPCLIB,DISP=SHR
//SYSTSPRT  DD  SYSOUT=*
//SYSPRINT  DD  SYSOUT=*
//SYSTSIN   DD  *
F MSMTC,APPL=UPDTTREE,USERID=MYUSERID,VENDOR=CA
/*
//

To update a product to get new maintenace:

//SYSTSIN   DD  *
F MSMTC,APPL=UPDTCAT,USERID=MYUSERID,PRODUCT=CA ACF2 - MVS,RELEASE=15.0,
  TYPE=PTFS
/*
//

Please see Appendix-B of the CA Chorus Software Manager User Guide for reference of the commands the batch interface supports and the required / optional operands for them.
